This site was created by TRIO’s founder, Jim Gleason. He is a 25 + year heart transplant recipient. On TRIO’s website are links to sites dedicated to particular organ transplants such as heart, kidney, lung and liver, and many others. Included on the site are links devoted to different organs and their national organizations.
There is even a link to their newest site, which deals with post-transplant patients and cancer. It’s not uncommon for post-transplant recipients to develop cancer. Actually, it’s not that they develop cancer. Following transplant surgery, most recipients are placed on immune – suppressants to prevent the newly transplanted organ from being rejected by the body.
